Oliver Queen may not want to be the next Ra’s al Ghul on CW’s Arrow, but Stephen Amell is about to wear another mask, as the actor signs on for the role of Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, Variety reports.
Amell will be joining Megan Fox’s reporter April O’Neil in the sequel of the rebooted franchise about Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Raphael: four ‘heroes in a half-shell’ using their ‘turtle power’ and martial arts skills under the guidance of their wise master Splinter to protect New York City from the forces of evil, corruption, and injustice.
Casey Jones was first played by Chicago P.D.‘s Elias Koetas in the original 1990 hit; the actor reprise the role in 1993’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III.
Whereas the Arrow is a hood-wearing vigilante with a bow and arrow, Casey Jones is a hockey-loving vigilante with a stick who becomes the Turtles’ strongest ally, as well as the love interest for April.
Paramount has set Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 to be released sometime next year.
