Can one honestly thieve a home? A stolen Oregon residence was “found” this week by police officers of Klamath County, who confirm they have successfully retrieved the wooden establishment earlier this week. This strange case apparently involves the home not being of the mobile variety or moved via wheels, but in fact taken from its very foundation. Cubic Lane News shares all of the details on this unusual incident this Friday, Feb. 27, 2015.
Although the mystery surrounding the stolen home is beginning to unravel, there are still many unanswered questions. Local authorities in Chiloquin, Oregon, say that at a time the house was unoccupied, unknown suspects managed to hoist the home from its roots and relocate the building almost 4,000 feet from its original location. One sheriff jokingly said that the recently found home is now in their “custody,” but their next course of action will likely be an unexpected one.
“I have I guess you can say in our custody a home. I don’t know where we’re gonna put it or where we’re gonna book it, but we have a home,” says Klamath County Sheriff Frank Skrah.
According to the Washington Times, investigators say the strange case is still being examined. At least three separate individuals are trying to lay their ownership claims to the home, while authorities are in the process of determining how exactly the house was moved. It is guessed at this time that the house was being relocated over a period of several months, beginning in July of 2014. Detectives are attempting to discover the exact homeowner, in addition to whether any civil dispute charges need to be filed.
Some neighbors aware of the log “cabin” residence say they were surprised to hear it had been “missing,” let alone moved. According to the sheriff, “This is a situation where three parties are claiming ownership, (and) one of the three parties sold it to a fourth party.” The house itself clocks in at 1,200 square feet. At this time, the mystery continues.
Believe it or not, but this stolen Oregon home found not far from its foundation site isn’t the only residential enigma to make headlines this year. Just a few weeks ago, an American woman says she came home from doing errands all afternoon to discover her husband had completely demolished their home together with a bulldozer. No, this doesn’t appear to be a violent incident of revenge. Instead, the reason for it is yet to be determined, but the husband said that his wife was unwilling to destroy the old and decrepit place, so he took his opportunity to do so. He is now facing several charges.
