What is the Temporary Contemporary Exhibit about?
“A series of self-contained portable contemporary art galleries that will move between various select neighborhoods in Detroit. A collaboration between Wayne State University’s James P. Duffy Department of Art and Art History & Detroit contemporary. These non-profit student-run sustainable “rogue galleries” will begin exhibiting throughout Detroit.
The first exhibition, directed by Aaron Timlin and curated by Marilyn Zimmerwoman, will include black & white photographs of the people & places of Detroit.” – read more at https://www.facebook.com/events/908443452551106/
Why you should see it?
Wayne State University’s Professor Marilyn Zimmerwoman’s explains in her own words, “Aaron Timlin and I, as elders in this collaboration with the future, the students, in our shared creation of the Temporary Contemporary are teaching how to be the future leaders, where they/we are learning, demonstrating and expressing cooperation over competition, being truly connected over simply hooked up, engagement over isolation, straight across respect over hierarchical dogma, beloved community over a classroom of individuals….and through this you and I are teaching not only the media and means of making/presenting/promoting art, we are teaching future leaders as revolutionary-evolutionaries. The vibe in this class is among the most amazing I have ever experienced of synergy. They are truly manifesting the change needed in the world; as all revolutions were rooted in love and taking care of the people, of one another.”
