Greetings again my friends from my “I can’t believe it 2015..time does fly when you get older” part of the world. 2015!! Wow..I remember being in school and 2000 seemed miles away! This time around we will do our annual year reflections, talk about a few cool things here and there and give you the heads up to what’s ahead in 2015!!
Due to a major medical malfunction I was unable to attend the show put on by Samax this past Saturday at Milano’s. I’ve heard from more than one it was a rocking, reeling, get down with your bad self musical night. Samax is composed of three big time talented young from the area. Siblings Samantha on GREAT vocals and brother Max on sizzling guitar and vocals. Keeping rhythm is surrogate family member, the gentle giant behind the kit, Nick.. See I’ve seen then before so I know enough to tell you if you get a chance go hear them play.. You won’t be sorry..
Sadly (at least for me) thanks to the same majot medical malfunction I was forced to pass up one of my favorite things every month, the GACBS monthly music jam. This month’s host band was the talented young people , MINOR BLUES & I had this on the to do list for 3 months. But it was not meant to be. I know from good authority they blew the room away at the K of C. Working on getting healthy for the January edition with the host band being Polly Mae. Put this on your calendar. The last Sunday of the month.GACBS music jam live at the K of C on Cable behind Happy Dayz. Start time is 5 & its over by 9 so you can bring the whole family..

MAJOR HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT COMING. .Podcast #3 is online.
Every year it seems like more & more of the cool people leave us. Here is a little list I compiled. This is far from a complete list by any means and If I left someone out I am sorry. 2014 we said goodbye to the man who brought us long distance dedications, weekly a list of songs that not only us but people just like us were buying around the country and when your favorite song was #1 on AT40 it felt like it was happening to you. Thanks Casey Kasem for teaching us to reach for the stars.
Music lost some great talent, many who influenced generations of musicians. We waved goodbye to Phil Everly, Joe Cocker, Pete Seeger, Jesse Winchester, Joe Sample, Jack Bruce and Big Bank Hank who was one third of the group Sugarhill Gang who recorded one of the biggest rap songs of all time.
From TV it was the end of the broadcast day for many familiar faces. Sid Ceasar, Ralph(Pa Walton)Waite, Russell(the Professor) Johnson, and James Garner. TV Land also said goodbye to Marcia ( Welcome Back Kotter), Strassman. David Brenner, Joan Rivers and Jan Hooks. And THE VOICE of NBC & SNL from day one, Don Pardo.
The box office closed on movie greats, Lauren Bacall, Robin Williams, Harold Ramis, Bob Hoskins, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Mickey Rooney.
Maya Angelou left us and we lost one of our own, long time editor and co-owner of The Entertainer, Carrie Goff.
All and all it was a year of many changes and I see many more on the horizon. Remember we can all support the local entertainment scene just go to something somewhere, at least that’s what I think.
Have a safe NYE, use a DD…I don’t like losing friends. See you next year
If ya dig it do it
If ya really dig it do it twice
