According to TVLine on December 10, Chancellor Jaha and the members of “The 100” are gearing up for a big change in the upcoming episode “Long Into an Abyss,” which is the seventh episode of the second season. The website posted an exclusive clip from the episode, which features everyone on the ground learning of Jaha’s plan to deal with the Grounders. The episode will air on Wednesday, December 10 at 9 p.m. on the CW Network, and there will only be one more episode until the midseason finale.
The one and half minute clip features Jaha (Isaiah Washington) addressing the citizens of the Ark and the 100 on the ground. He explains that the Grounders have given them one day to leave the area or the group will attack. Jaha revealed that there is a place called the City of Light which should offer safe haven to the group, but the journey will be difficult. The group will have to cross the Dead Zone, which is mostly desert. Jaha instructs everyone to begin packing and only to bring things that can be carried easily. Everyone should be ready to leave at a moment’s notice since the Grounders could attack before the sun rises the following day.
People in the group are skeptical of the plan, but Jaha explains that he believes the group can survive the trip since they also survived the fall from space to the ground. The Chancellor would rather risk a safer environment than risk a major fight with the Grounders. Meanwhile, Clarke disagrees with Jaha’s plan and believes the group should be trying to rescue everyone at Mount Weather. Jaha simply explained that the decision to leave people behind at Mount Weather would be difficult, but in the best interest of the group. It’s likely that the 100 will leave the camp again and attempt a rescue mission for their friends inside Mount Weather.
On December 9 Entertainment Weekly posted another new clip from the upcoming episode, which reveals that Octavia and Bellamy are bringing Lincoln back to the Dropship to help him. In the previous episode, Lincoln was revealed to have become a Reaper, who no longer recognizes Octavia and just wants to eat her flesh. The clip features Clarke meeting Lincoln in his new form, since the group is still at the Ark site and hasn’t left for the City of Light. Octavia, Bellamy, Clarke and Finn won’t give up their plan to save their friends inside Mount Weather.
“Long Into an Abyss” was directed by Antonio Negret and written by James Thorpe. The midseason finale of the second season of “The 100” will air on Wednesday, December 17 at 9 p.m. on the CW Network. The remaining eight episodes of the season will air in early 2015. The show is averaging just under two million viewers per episode, which is consistent with the viewership from season one. Tune in to find out Clarke’s plan for rescuing her friends from Mount Weather, and if a Grounder attack happens at the Dropship before everyone can depart.
