Daniel Tatar, Shawn Perucca, Stuart Ambrose and Brian Purcell all began their second careers as this amazing musical group “The Company Men” upon meeting when moonlighting as a Four Season’s tribute band nightclub act in Las Vegas. While still working their day jobs, each was ready for more. As Brian Purcell relates in the EPK 2014 video, “It’s about the everyman stepping out of the life that he’s in if he has something bigger that he wants to do”.
Each member of the group has their own unique personality that helps feed their arrangements and creations.
Speaking with the men is a true delight. They are all kind, considerate and one can tell appreciate each other, their band and their audience. Being gentleman goes beyond their act and they each truly live up to the given description. The guys quickly introduced me to their band and their wonderful producer Justin Avery, who doubles as their keyboard artist.
The former entertainer at Disneyland, Shawn Perucca took on the moniker of “The Playboy” stating “The Playboy is the guy who loves to be the center of attention at the party. He wants everyone in the room dancing and having a great time.” Perucca is truly an enchanter with his sweet smile and fun attitude.
Daniel Tatar, the former stay-at-home dad and website builder known as “The Charmer”, notes “The Charmer is the guy who ingratiates himself to people through humor and comedy.” Not only does Tatar charm one can see his seriousness when it comes to the love he has for his “brothers” in the group and band. He seems like the “dad” making sure that all is happy.
“’The Lover’”, Brian Purcell, who worked for his family’s executive search firm, relates “is about being sensitive and strong, but in a specific musical sense. It’s a reflection of my passion – the way I lose myself in a song to deliver an emotional performance with which an audience can identify. It’s also about all the pleasures and different aspects of life – all the good things!” His lover persona is truly evident on the new ballad “Crawling Back”, that Purcell sings on The Company Men’s new #throwbackPOP album.
As Stuart Ambrose puts it “I get ‘The Gentleman’ moniker because my military career has taught me the value of honor, courage and integrity. It’s not just about service to one’s country or community but paying attention to all the things people live and fight for, and that matter to them.” Ambrose may tower over the others in his height but is as truly humble as they all are when it comes to sharing the spotlight.
Their new album #throwbackPOP is radio ready with songs that one instantly wants to sing and dance along to. Making The Company Men so unique is their cross generational appeal. Their mash-ups and new original songs, all inspired by such greats like Sinatra, Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson, presents performances that seems to be heavenly guided from the great artists that inspired them.
Sing along to life and never be afraid to dance!
