Party No. 1 takes place at home. This is an event to throw Bill off so he will not suspect Jen is planning a party in New York where friends and family will come to New York for Bill’s special 40th get-together. His special gift in Houston will be photographs taken at Diana Simonetta’s studio. The props are big letters, B-A-B-A. The children were perpetual motion and not really cooperating much. However, the results are even better. Photos of Will and Zoey being typical kids, holding a letter, but Diana had to catch them on the fly, like Zoey and the letter A or B running away.
Of course Bill loved his gift and plans to take a smaller one to the hospital with him. He’ll get better more quickly with the children’s faces near his bed.
While Jen and her mom, Judy, were busy at the photography studio, Bill introduced Jessica as the new pet shop manager. He assured the staff that everything would stay on course while he was in New York. He will probably be in New York for a week and then recovery time at home in Houston. Judy was managing the shop but retired to spend more time with Will and Zoey.
Between parties Jen and Bill take Will and Zoey to a pumpkin patch to choose pumpkins. Zoey had to be bribed by Jen with the promise that there would be horses, her favorite, present. Zoey ended up hanging around the horses and Will helped Bill with the pumpkins. He struck a cute pose with his hands folded in front of him and one foot resting on a pumpkin — kind of like he just bagged something while hunting. Later at home, everyone had pumpkin pie and decorated their pumpkins. Instead of making a mess with carving or painting, they used mouths, ears, teeth, etc. like the pieces that come with Mr. or Mrs. Potato Head. Of course there was a little good-natured competition between Bill and Jen.
Bill and Jen flew to New York and the plan was to have dinner the evening before his surgery. Bill’s mother and step-dad, Barbara and Chuck, are going to join them. Of course when they get to the restaurant Bill is surprised by his brothers, father and step-mom, and other family and friends — including Will and Zoey and Jen’s parents. You will never see a little boy as excited as Will was to see his dad. Bill couldn’t get over the fact that the kids flew without him. Jen worried about surprising Bill, but Bill was definitely happy.
There was a film put together by Jen featuring old photos, funny stories, and very sweet messages from guests letting Bill know how special he was and how much he was loved and what an inspiration he is for all. Zoey and Will made messages at home that were included in the film. They would jump out of a kiddie’s tent set up in the living room and yell: Happy Daddy!
Will and Zoey were hyper happy and Jen was relieved and happy to have pulled off the surprise.
Airing next Tuesday, December 6, at 9:00 p.m., on TLC will be coverage of Bill’s surgery. Everyone who is a fan of The Little Couple, I am sure will send their positive energy, thoughts and prayers to Bill and Jen.
