In the world of entertainment wearing many hats can take you too far greater heights than ever imagined. As long as you work hard and ‘walk by faith’ you can and will attain those heights. Atlanta based entertainment mogul, Seven “Digit” Hues is of testament to that.
Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Hues has always been emerged in entertainment. He has assisted in breaking a plethora of records and has worked alongside famed producers and production companies, such as Will Power and UNI Productions, just to name a few. Seven’s dedication to his craft led him to being recognized and awarded with the Best Unsigned Artist of the Year award from UK based BEFFTA Awards (Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion, & Television Awards) in 2011. In addition, he was also blessed to headline the 4th annual Summer of SUM Tour in 2014.
But wait, it definitely does not stop there. Mr. Hues is never not working. He recently recorded his latest single, “Walk By Faith” and he will be presenting the video at an exclusive sponsorship dinner on Friday, May 1 at T.E.N Atlanta. So as you can see things are going nowhere but up for this star on the rise.
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Seven where he shared his own personal experience of “walking by Faith”, as well as he next plans of action for his music and acting career.
In addition to the video, what are you plans for the single, “Walk By Faith”?
“Walk By Faith” is a movement. It’s a record that I think everyone can relate to; especially those who are visionaries who decided to step out on their own accord to create a life for themselves. A lot of times you’re grinding and grinding and you just can’t see it, while others will applaud you for you’re a job well done, but because you’re just stuck in the trenches it is hard to see the light at the end.
I really want to do some amazing productions with this record. I have a choreographer and a few producers that are helping to create something, but it’s too early to say now, but it’s an amazing production.
So what is your own personal story of “Walking By Faith”?
I got into a really bad motorcycle accident a few years back. A car ran over my face, chest, and legs, and at that moment I realized that I was doing everything for everyone else. I was the go to guy. So I decided that I would step out and do what I felt was for me to do, completely on my own with regards to nobody else. Taking that step, I sacrificed everything. When I came into the game {music} in 2009, I put up about $100,000 and I decided to be hungry. People thought I was crazy. When you’re a visionary, people can’t really see what you see, so it was a very difficult 4 years. I sat and planned. I had child support issues and other things in nature would kept popping up, but I just pressed on and stuck to what I believed and all in one time every seed that I planted began to grow.
So how was the experience headlining the Summer of SUM tour?
It was great! With it being a national platform, it allowed me to tour all over the country and meet different people.
Where is some place that you would love to travel to?
I really want to go to the UK, and do some things aboard. Of course I also want to go to LA and do some things over there. With Hollywood making its way to Atlanta, I feel that I am at a great spot here. There is a lot of work in the city right now.
Exactly. So as far as acting is concerned, can you discuss a few of the projects that you are currently working on?
Yes! So the stage play, “Faith was the Substance”, is about a woman who has a breast cancer and the reactions that her friends and family have surrounding it. It is an amazing story of triumph and victory. The play goes on tour this summer and is an amazing production that really touched me that I believe everyone will like and be able to learn a lot from.
The next project which I am very excited about is “Immortalz Atlanta”, which is like a “True Bloods” meets “Game of Thrones”. It is a vampire series where I play Jackson Hawks, the badass vampire body guard. It is an amazing series that I think people are going to love.
What is your favorite thing about acting?
I’m a very animated person and I have multiple personalities, so I get a chance to showcase different colors of myself, whereas music is audible and acting is visual, so it (acting) affects people in a different way, and I love that.
Who would you like to collab with in music?
I would love to work with Kanye, straight out the gate. I also would like to work with Jay-Z, J. Cole, 2 Chainz…you know guys who are really about something and not just rapping because I am more than rap.
What about acting? Who would you like to work within the acting world?
As it relates to actors, there are so many great ones out there, so I would really love to be involved in a great production.
Where do you see your career going within the next year?
I believe that with my music and two acting projects that it is going to be an ‘out of nowhere’ type of situation. I’m a monster when it comes to work, so I’m really diligent in making sure that happens. My goal is to be a household name in 12 months.
I know you are a busy man, but when you do get the free time what do you enjoy doing?
I like hanging out with friends and listening to live music and just chilling.
What is one thing that the readers may not know about you?
I’m very philosophical. I’m always teaching and talking to someone about something. I am all about uplifting people.
