You can fight City Hall, but maybe not Universal Studios. One group of activists fought to get their Sycamore trees declared historic so that developers won’t tear them down, another group of activists are trying to keep Universal Studios from closing an off-ramp off the Hollywood Freeway.

One of the most controversial moments in local politics came when a stakeholder challenged the officers of the Studio City Neighborhood Council. Stephen Elliott and Howard Fox were walking down posh Ventura Boulevard when their new puppy, Vargas, only six-and-a-half months old, was ripped apart by a stray pit bull. There’s is one of the most tragic stories told in Studio City this year, and they are filing a lawsuit to stop it.

No ‘Welcome Sign’
There are welcome signs in every corner of Studio City, except on the western edge of the district bordering Sherman Oaks. But some people in the community are protesting where it will go, and what it will look like, so there was no decision made. CLICK HERE for the story.

Adopting an African Village
Valley Village has adopted Ongata-Rongai Village in Kenya. And, purchasing a piece of their beautiful hand-made jewelry can help the women in the village to build a water well for the village. They now have to walk four miles a day for fresh water. It’s a great community story, CLICK HERE.
The Rocker & Writer romance
One of the most wonderful romances happened right in our own back yard! Susan McMartin, the screenwriter and Studio City Mom columnist and Derek Anthony Gray the rocker, became engage in quite a public way. You have to see the video to appreciate it, CLICK HERE.
Well, another year has gone by and the UFO experts who watch the skies once again say that there are a lot of sightings in Studio City. In fact, a Megadeth drummer caught one on video, and he spoke about it at one of the monthly meetings. There was even a UFO sighting of Mulholland Drive by Ronald Reagan on his way to a party.
