The rumors were true. It has been confirmed that the Rolling Stones will perform in Milwaukee on June 23 at the Marcus Amphitheater for what could be their last show in our area. This will mark the band’s first Milwaukee concert in 10 years. “The Zip Code” tour will bring the Stones in one day before the official start to Summerfest. The festival is promoting this as an ultimate kick off to the Big Gig. Those who purchase a Rolling Stones ticket will get entry to Summerfest and gain entry to a special Summerfest pre-party which will include two stages of music and live entertainment before the concert.
As I noted a few weeks ago, billboards for the Rolling Stones started rolling out mid-March. An announcement was supposed to happen March 19th and was deferred to today because of a ticketing issue. Milwaukee is one of two stops on “The Zip Code” tour that will not take place in an arena. The Marcus Amphitheater is easily the smallest capacity venue on the tour and will most likely sell out quick since the band will not make a stop in Chicago.
Tickets for the concert will go on sale April 13 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster and the Summerfest box office. Ticket prices are not available at this time.
