On Dec. 7, 2014, The Torch Club and Sac Groove will present an Albie Aware benefit that will fill the house with deliciously talented Divas. The “Divalicious” event will run for five hours from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Torch Club located at 904 15th Street, Sacramento between I and J. The divas will rock the house with Blues, Texas Blues, Country, Rockabilly-Swing, Americana, R&B, Funk, and Contemporary Jazz.
The delicious divas that will create a live music event with nonstop, top caliber grooves include Beth Reid-Grigsby of Red’s Blues, Dana Moret of Mr. December, Danielle Walsh of Jitterbug Riot, Julie Morris of Mercy Me, Kat Cairns of Tattoo Blue, Keri Carr and Lara Price. There is much that can be said about this team of divas but one word covers it is a flash – WOW!!!
The event is only $20 to attend with tickets available at the door on the day of the event. The event will also include a raffle, Giving Tree, and Esther’s Tamales. This is one love fest that will be full of fun, yum and diva delight with a broad range of incredibly talented ladies backed by some equally talented men and bands. On top of all the great music, the event will help to raise “much needed awareness and funds” for the Albie Aware Foundation.
This Foundation was created in memory of Albie Carson who succumbed to breast cancer on July 4, 2002. Albie was a 50-year resident of Sacramento where she attended school, raised a family, and made a career in the real estate community. She developed strong ties to the area and was well known and loved by her peers and clients alike. We find it only fitting that her legacy continues to be one of selfless giving.
In honor of Albie, it is our goal to raise money to help others in the community who face their own battles with this disease.
AWARENESS: “Albie Aware” sounds like “I’ll be aware” and that’s our purpose: To make people aware of cancer PREVENTION methods through nutrition and exercise, to encourage self-examination and a follow-up doctor’s appointment for early DETECTION, to be aware of the diagnostic testing available to determine the best TREATMENT for breast cancer and the early detection of a recurrence, and to provide financial assistance when these tests are not covered by the insurance provider.
