On Feb. 20 Wetpaint Entertainment posted spoilers for “Remember,” the upcoming twelfth episode of the fifth season of “The Walking Dead,” which will finally see the group reach a new location. The episode will feature new characters and continue to explore the changing dynamic in Rick’s group after the recent deaths. The episode is scheduled to air on Sunday, March 1 at 9 p.m. on AMC and will feature a location from the comic book series called the Alexandria Safe Zone.
The synopsis for the episode reveals that the group “has a difficult time molding into a new lifestyle” and they have to figure out if they can go back to being the people there were before. This new lifestyle is likely the way life is at the Alexandria Safe Zone, which the group is confirmed to reach by the end of episode eleven, “The Distance.” New character Aaron, based on the character from the comic book series, made his debut at the end of episode ten and will meet the rest of the group in episode eleven. It’s likely that they follow Aaron back to the Alexandria Safe Zone to determine for themselves if it really is a safe area.
Greg Nicotero is directing the episode, and he also helmed the season five premiere, episode nine and the season finale. The episode was filmed back in October, and the set of the Alexandria Safe Zone was constructed in Senoia, Georgia. There is a watch tower with a wired fence and reinforced wall that was shown in the promo for episode eleven. The promo also hints that Glenn may be bitten by a walker at some point at night, but Steven Yeun was seen on set filming for episode twelve.
Visitors to the set confirmed that Maggie, Michonne, Tara, Noah, Rick, Glenn, Carl and Carol will all appear in episode twelve. It seems that the group may split again or have some members stay back until Rick and some others find it safe to approach to new location. Rick is described as clean shaven and appears to have a scene with a “blonde haired woman” in a street, and the two seem to know each other. It’s possible that this woman in newcomer Alexandra Breckenridge, who is rumored to be playing a television version of Jessie Anderson from the comic book series.
Actor Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, explained in an interview last fall that by episode twelve his character “is brutal.” Lincoln described him as “a dangerous man” and he’s very different from the first eight episodes of the season. Executive producers on the series have confirmed that they are taking some events dealing with the Alexandria Safe Zone directly from the comic books, while they are also changing some events for the television series storylines. The newer episodes will also explore the severed heads the group came across in Richmond, and the new dangers that a potential safe place could bring.
On Jan 14. SpoilerTV revealed that two new characters are being introduced from the comic books, including the openly gay character that has been teased since early last year. Aaron, played by actor Ross Marquand, was introduced in episode ten, and will test the loyalty of Rick and the group after revealing a safe location for them. Actor Jordan Woods-Robinson has also been reportedly cast as Eric, Aaron’s boyfriend from the comic book series, and will appear in the new episode. Actor Michael Traynor has apparently been cast in the role of Pete Anderson, the husband of Jesse Anderson, and is scheduled to appear in episode twelve.
