Congrats on the success of “All of It But Me” – tell us lyrically what the song means to you?
The Young Professionals (TYP): Thanks, this song is about the feeling that the person you’re with has a lot of things on his/her mind but you… you’re trying to figure out what are they thinking about and caring about, cause you feel like you’re not one of those things…
The “All Of It But Me” video is very visually stunning – talk to us about that.
TYP: We like trying to come up with interesting visual concepts for our videos. something that will be connected to the meaning of the song but also will be a visual creation by itself . Together with director Guy Sagy we tried to figure out how to make ones inner mind might look like…
When you’re writing songs, are you thinking about a visual accompaniment or does that come after the fact?
TYP: A lot of the times we do. Lyrics are something very visual to us and we usually have ideas for videos while writing the songs
For those who don’t know – how did The Young Professionals come together?
TYP: Johnny and myself [ Ivri ] started writing songs together and after a while thought it’ll be really cool to create a group of artists from different disciplines that’ll work under the idea of TYP, so we approached interesting people we knew to collaborate on that project.
How do you approach an American audience differently than other places you’ve played and promoted the record?
TYP: American audience for us is very important cause that’s where most of the music and art we are interested in comes from. We love hearing from our American fans and we always feel proud about that.
The Young Professionals mashes old and new sounds – if you could record with any artist/band from the past who would it be and why?
TYP: There’s so many: Carftwark, Brian Eno, Elvis, The Beach Boys etc.
What else can we expect from the second album? What types of sounds, any other collaborations?
TYP: We have a lot of collaborations on this album with a lot of great artists we love such as “Far East Movement” and the album as a whole is very up tempo in many ways
Any plans for a US tour?
TYP: Not sure about dates yet but we are really looking forward playing in the US this year!!!
