Located approximately 20 miles north of Toledo, Ohio, Dundee, Michigan has a wide variety of things to do and see for each member of the family. The city of Dundee has grown considerably in the last few years mainly due to the arrival of Cabela’s in 2000.
Cabela’s Cabela’s is known worldwide as an outfitters superstore, selling equipment and clothing for outdoor sportsmen. However, you don’t have to enjoy fishing, hunting or camping to enjoy the store. Cabela’s features a 48 foot mountain indoors with a waterfall, a 65,000 gallon walk-through aquarium, museum quality displays of wild animals (including an elephant and a rhino) and fish ponds. There is also a general store where you can buy fudge among other items. Cabela’s has a restaurant that serves deli-style items and adventurous souls can enjoy exotic meats like buffalo and elk. Cabela’s also sells furniture, jewelry, collectibles and toys. Store hours are 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday – Saturday and 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Sunday. Splash Universe A big family attraction in Dundee is the Splash Universe indoor waterpark located in the Holiday Inn across from Cabela’s. The waterpark offers the Goldmine Adventure Slides, the Water Adventure Treehouse with its 500 gallon splash bucket, the River Raisin lazy river and a floating log walk. The park also has an adults-only Hot Springs hot tub.
Splash Universe also has an on-site restaurant — The Treehouse Pub & Grub — and the Snack Shack (located in the waterpark). The waterpark also offers hourly activities for the kids including arts & crafts, rubber duck races, coloring contests and scavenger hunts.
Admission to the waterpark area is $32 for a full day (includes access to the pool and rides). Spectator tickets are $7.

Silver Bells For the Christmas enthusiasts, there is Silver Bells, a year round Christmas store located in a restored Victorian house. The two-level store offers vast selection of Christmas ornaments from around the world, Department 56 village pieces and other Christmas items. Russell Stover Candies Russell Stover’s is a candy kitchen offering handmade specialties, caramel apples and more. The store offers a wide selection of Russell Stover boxed candies, fudge and chocolates including sugar free for purchase. St. Julian Winery St. Julian’s is Michigan’s oldest, largest and most awarded winery. The family-owned winery was founded in 1921. They are particularly known for their Blue Heron, White Heron and Red Heron wines. Old Mill Museum For history buffs, you can visit the Old Mill Museum located along the banks of the River Raisin next to a waterfall. Restored in the 1980’s by volunteers, the museum houses three floors of permanent and changing local history exhibits featuring fashion, furniture and farm life of early Dundee.
