As the NWA National Heavyweight Wrestling Champion Lou Marconi has battled some of the top performers in the NWA and across the country. Recent matches have seen Marconi use his cunning and skill to come out victorious and keep him in the running for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship as the number one contender. On February 6, 2015 in Millersville, TN for NWA SAW Marconi may be in for the toughest match in his career when he steps in to the ring against “The Vanilla Godzilla” Jax Dane.
Dane, a former NWA World Tag Team Champion, is looking to capture his first major singles title in the NWA, one that would instantly catapult him into the number one contender spot which could ultimately put him in the ring against friend, mentor and former tag team partner and current NWA World Champion “Ironman” Rob Conway. At 6’4” and 284 pounds, Dane is a formidable opponent for even the most experienced and even the biggest in professional wrestling. Marconi, who has taken on every challenge and been successful in those bids, will have to be on his game and have the best match of his career, relying on his experience and expansive “bag of tricks” to come out still holding the National Heavyweight Championship.
As NWA SAW presents the 8th Anniversary show and celebrating former promoter TJ Weatherby, who passed away last summer, this card will be the biggest event of the year for the group.
Current NWA World Champion “Iroman” Rob Conway, who is still recovering from having his appendix removed but is expected to be close to 100%, will be on the card defending his title against current NWA Southern Heavyweight Champion Aarick Andrews. Andrews, a Charlotte native, is embracing the opportunity to step into the ring with Conway. As one of the top contenders for the NWA World Championship, Andrews is not someone Conway can look past while preparing for his upcoming match in New Japan Pro Wrestling against Tenzan on February 11, 2015 as part of the NJPW New Beginning in Osaka.
Wrestling legends Tracy Smothers and “Superstar” Bill Dundee will square off in a Tennessee Legends Match. Smothers is a well-traveled veteran having been part of the NWA, WCW, WWF/E, ECW and hundreds of independents. Dundee made his mark in wrestling in Memphis and the USWA as a longtime foe of Jerry “The King” Lawler and is one of the most recognizable names in wrestling.
Rising ladies star “Crazy” Mary Dobson, who is a popular performer in Japan, will be squaring off against Jordynne Grace in what should be a match that is off the charts.
NWA SAW at the SAW Arena has an old school atmosphere in what some would describe as “cozy confines” and “perfect for wrestling.” The company produces their own DVDs and TV show and has over 300 episodes in the can.
The National Wrestling Alliance is the oldest governing body in professional wrestling with a rich history and includes some of the biggest names in the business as champion including Dory and Terry Funk, Ric Flair, Jack Brisco, Harley Race, Lou Thesz, Buddy Rogers, Orville Brown, Dusty Rhodes, Tommy Rich, Giant Baba and more.
