Toyota is bringing SpongeBob Sienna and their all-new 2016 Toyota Tacoma to the Austin Auto Show this weekend, April 24-26, being held at the Austin Convention Center.
SpongeBob Sienna – a concept crafted from the all-new 2015 Toyota Sienna minivan – will delight the children with its custom three-dimensional SpongeBob SquarePants exterior complete with the character’s Superhero Incredible mask blowing real bubbles and custom seating designed with inspiration from Bikini Bottom pals. The colorful SpongeBob Sienna also sports a nautical wood-grain dashboard with a custom crafted Captain’s steering wheel, blue-sky headliner and sand-inspired floor.
2015 Toyota Sienna
Toyota calls their all-new 2015 Sienna minivan their “Swagger Wagon” based on its recent Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) recognition as the Family Car of Texas and Minivan of Texas by nearly 60 Texas-based writers who reviewed it at the recent TAWA annual Auto Roundup event.
“As the only van in its segment available with all-wheel drive, the recognition as Family Car of Texas confirms our efforts to keep the family van alive and thriving,” said KC Kirimoto, vice president of product and global communications for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. “Toyota’s commitment to enhancing the 2015 Sienna was focused not only on new safety features, but also the convenience and comfort of every member of the family.”
The 2015 Sienna impressed the TAWA journalists with its style and comfort, from the subtle exterior styling refinements for a more upscale look to the new center console and dash design. Both passengers and drivers can enjoy the refreshed interior with added safety, convenience and multimedia features. Sienna’s new three-spoke heated steering wheel, available trimmed in leather or premium leather, ups the luxury ante, says Toyota.
For even greater passenger comfort, the Limited FWD grade’s standard second-row Lounge Seating includes leg and foot support. Second-row captain chairs have dual armrests, and an easy release mechanism facilitates seat removal. The new parent-friendly Driver Easy Speak system conveys your voice through the audio system’s rear speakers, allowing parents to talk with family in the back two rows. The Blu-Ray Dual View Entertainment Center, with a seamless 16.4-inch widescreen that plays from one or two separate sources, keeps the peace in the back seat.
2016 Toyota Tacoma
Toyota builds America’s best-selling mid-size pickup truck – the Toyota Tacoma – just down the road from Austin, at its truck plant in San Antonio, Texas. For 2016, Toyota is introducing an all-new Tacoma with fresh styling, all-new powertrain, enhanced suspension and technology that, Toyota says, will make the Tacoma the most serious, capable and fun sport truck (on and off-road) in the segment.
The Tacoma’s redesigned interior features a driver focused instrument cluster and new soft-wrapped trim accents with metallic highlighting that suggests a more premium cabin while retaining the sport truck image of the Tacoma. Some of the wider array of available features scheduled to be available on the new Tacoma include: Qi wireless charging, Smart key with push-button start, Leather-trimmed seats, Power Moonroof, Dual-zone automatic climate control, enhanced touchscreen audio and Blind-spot monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Toyota says to expect the Tacoma cabin to be their quietest ever. Engineering changes to accomplish are said to include: a new floor silencer pad to mitigate noise from underneath, a new multi-layer acoustic windshield and a new sound-absorbing headliner with all door seals being enhanced to quiet outside road noise.
In addition to showing the current lineup of Toyota vehicles including the all-new Camry, Corolla, RAV4 and Tundra, experts will be on hand to answer questions about the vehicles – Toyota will hold an interactive trivia show, Toyota Live, during show hours that will engage the audience with questions to them about Toyota products with fun prize giveaways to winners.
Toyota Drive Center
Toyota is also bringing their Toyota Drive Center program to the auto show. Drivers will be able to sign up and test drive the redesigned Toyota Camry, Corolla, RAV4 and Tundra while at the show. Stop by the Toyota registration booth inside the show and sign up for your drive. Drive hours are Friday through Sunday, April 24-26: 10 AM to 6 PM.
