Jada Pinkett Smith’s bikini-body secrets are a healthy vegetarian diet and rigorous workouts that include yoga and cardio exercise. Pinkett Smith said her fitness motivation is her husband, Will Smith, who frequently compliments her ripped physique.
“I love when Will looks at me and says, ‘You look so freaking good!'” Jada told Shape Dec. 29. “When my husband of almost 20 years can’t take his eyes off of me? That’s amazing.”
The 5-foot-tall Pinkett Smith, who weighs 108 pounds, said stair-climbing cardio workouts and body-sculpting yoga sessions keep her lean and toned. Good genes also play a role.
Jada proudly showcased her 61-year-old mom’s incredible bikini body on Facebook (see photo above), writing: “Willow took this shot of her grandmother, my mother, emerging from the ocean. She is 61! I wanna be her when I grow up.”
Pinkett Smith said she keeps her marriage spicy by discussing books about religion and spiritual expression with her husband. “It’s a big turn-on for me to be spiritually and intellectually challenged by Will,” said Jada. “To me, it’s like foreplay!”
Pinkett Smith has been a workout fanatic for years, crediting daily exercise for keeping her physically and emotionally fit. Jada said consistency, not long hours at the gym, is her secret.
“If I have a heavy carb week, I’ve got a heavy cardio week,” she told Health. “I tell people all the time, ‘You can eat whatever you want, as long as you’re willing to put the work in,’ and that’s a thing I had to learn. So I make sure I do something physical every single day.”
Pinkett Smith never works out for longer than 45 minutes, saying short, daily workouts have kept her lean and toned. “I do 20 minutes of cardio a day,” Jada said. “Everybody’s thinking you gotta be in the gym for an hour and a half.
“I’m never in the gym longer than 45 minutes. Just be consistent, that’s it! It doesn’t necessarily have to be intense, and you will see a difference.”
In addition to walking on the stair climber machine, Pinkett Smith relies on yoga and resistance training to keep her legs toned. “I do yoga,” said Jada. “I also do a sled machine, which track runners use for training — you put a harness on and pull things.”
For her arms, Pinkett Smith does push-ups and lifts light weights. While celebrities such as Kim Kardashian have hopped on the low carb bandwagon, Jada doesn’t follow a strict low-carb diet but focuses on lean proteins and fresh vegetables.
Kardashian lost 56 pounds in six months by following a low carb ketogenic-style Atkins diet that limited her daily carb intake to less than 60 grams, Celebrity Health reported. But Jada said she doesn’t subscribe to a low carb diet.
“My husband’s trainer started giving me diet tips, and he dismissed the myth that more carbs means you’re going to be unhealthy,” said Pinkett Smith, who’s a vegetarian. “What I realized is that I wasn’t eating enough of the proper foods like pasta and rice.”
Jada added: “I needed more of a high-carb situation in order to facilitate the amount of calories I burn. That meant more fruits, a lot of vegetables, because those are carbs and, if I want, some pasta or toast or English muffins.”
Pinkett Smith also gave props to Angelina Jolie for supporting her when she wanted to bring awareness to human trafficking. “Angelina Jolie and I, we’re not friends, but when I called her about my human trafficking endeavors, she went all in,” said Jada. “She put me in contact with the people I needed to be in contact with, she sent me books, sent me all the information she had.”
Pinket Smith added: “I’m not saying Angelina and I are girlfriends and kicking it every day, but when you call another woman who’s in a position to lend support to you and she just jumps right in, that’s sisterhood.”
