Vic Dibitetto is a local guy. who is about to become more famous than he could ever dream about. He is friends with Kevin James who starred in Paul Blart, Mall Cop about an out of shape security guard at a local mall. He was rejected from the New Jersey State Police Academy and wound up battling criminals in a local mall. The sequel, which comes out April 17, 2015 is set in Las Vegas. It features Dibitetto as Gino, a Mall Cop from Staten Island NY who is with Blart’s crew in Vegas. “We shot this at the Wynn Hotel in Vegas, we had to get permission to film there, it’s the first movie ever made there, and we are at a security convention at the hotel. I don’t want to give too much away, but there are art thieves at this hotel as well,” Dibitetto said in a brief interview about the movie called Mall Cop 2
The movie is appropriate for kids, people of all ages, “Kids, bring the kids, they’ll love it, you can take them, it’s a family movie, there’s no cursing, Kevin (James) is a family guy, really down to earth”, Dibitetto said. He just saw the movie at the premiere in New York City and he is in just about every scene. “I have some lines in the movie, but I’m right with Blart I’m with his pack”, Dibitetto said.
While the movie is geared for kids, Vic Dibitetto.’s comedy routine is geared for adults. He has been doing stand up for over 30 years but just recently started to get famous. From playing a comedy club where 20 or 30 people will show up to now selling out theaters that rock and roll acts play, Westbury Music Fair ( equivalent to the Tower Theater) , Vic will stay around after the show to meet all of his fans for free. Want a picture? No problem, autograph, sure, it’s free. The meet and greet can some times take longer than the show, but that’s Vic’s appeal. During his show, he will rail about the gas station attendant that speaks little English, but ask Vic about his accent. “Where am I from, I’m from up the block”, Dibitetto shouts, as the audience will picture the look of shock on the face of the attendant who is an Indian attendant wearing a long beard and a turban that is emblazoned with the NY Yankees emblem on it. The crowd roars with approval. You can see Vic May 6 at Parx. Go to that link to buy tickets before it’s sold out. He’s also playing locally again in Phoenixville a month later. “You have to go to my website , scroll, I make it easy for people”, Dibitetto says. When you scroll you can find he is back at Parx twice more before the year is out. May 6 he is there with Fred Rubino and Tim Hayes, who have their own following, that is similar to Vic’s
For Mall Cop 2 Dibitetto brought his family to the premier in NYC and they walked the red carpet.”It was surreal, there was a limo they dropped me off, you are walking the red carpet, Is this really happening”? Vic asks. Just under a year ago he was driving a school bus. Prior to that, he was driving a trash truck. Now he is walking a red carpet. To be honest not everyone will like Vic’s comedy. “I don’t care”. he said. When he did his first Justin Bieber video he got hate mail from 10 year old girls. Those same girls will now pee their pants laughing when they see him in Mall Cop 2 and I’ll betcha they don;t put two and two together.
His best material is free and it’s on Youtube. He has several characters like Tony Gaga ,and “That Guy” who is a slow handyman doing chores around Dibitetto’s house. His hottest series is about a shed that he bought and now hangs out in with Rubino. He broke a bathroom fixture and when is wife found out, he was banished to the shed where Rubino and his others get into mischief. In fact during one episode. Rubino accidentally set Vic’s shed on fire and was “banned” from the shed .Luckily he is allowed back for future episodes.
Mall Cop 2 comes out April 17, 2015. Hopefully, someone with brains in the entertainment industry see’s this movie ,or reads this article and gets Vic his own show. He would be hilarious doing commentary on current events, and with a Presidential Election coming up, that would be a plethora of material to chose from because you know with the current pool of candidates, Vic could be doing two hours shows just on the screw ups of the main candidates without missing a beat.
