Tucson has a new, fun business just opened the first of 2015. Bubble Balls! Those human sized plastic bubbles that you can crawl into and bounce or roll around. The newest fad is playing soccer wearing them as illustrated on Youtube.
The bubble balls come in different sizes to fit small and large. The company is named, Balls Out! Sports LLC. The owner is a long time Tucson resident, Travis D. Barney. Travis has planned several opportunities for fun, games and exercise here in the Old Pueblo.
One opportunity is immediately accessed at Reid Park on the weekend. A surprise this weekend, Travis and his crew, daughter Gabriel and friend Jessica Ortiz, set up in the field along side the older children’s play area. The field was filled with children, teens and adults bumping and rolling around. It seemed standing somersaults was a favorite for the 9 year olds and up.
Luckily, Grandmother had some cash in her purse, and the grandchildren got to try their skills. Xander was the ideal age, and could bounce, roll, headstand, roll over head first, join a group bash, or just bump his sister around. Zoë had a little difficulty doing the head flip, but had Dad there to give her a boost when necessary, or roll her around, all tucked up in the bubble ball. . Little ones may not be able to easily carry them, but even five year olds fit inside nicely and can be rolled around by Mom or Dad. From the “More. More,” called out, they certainly enjoyed it.
The Balloon balls hold air and have weight. It might be a good idea for a quick science lesson: Air has weight. Another lesson: A body in motion will stay in motion. But don’t forget the pull of gravity and the drag of friction from the grass. A body at rest will stay at rest. Unless a force is applied. The force could be the kid’s legs, or a push from a family member. And this time, gravity works to pull one down a slope.
Having a birthday? Passed your final exams? Got a new job? All this fun can be had for a party rental. Or at a community held fiesta. All you need is some space to bounce around. Balls Out! Sports LLC is taking reservations. Phone (520) 449-8526.
How about a soccer game wrapped in a bubble? Travis Barney begins League teams of soccer on Sunday, March 8 , from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon. And every Sunday after that. The league takes place at the Kino Sports Complex. Every one is welcome to come and join. Coaches will be there to train different aged groups. However, Travis asks that youngsters under 18 bring parent permission.
Right now, Travis Barney is operating out of his home, but hopes to move into an indoor facility, so kids can have fun without depending on the weather. Let’s all wish him good luck. Meanwhile, check out Reid Park on the weekend, the Kino sports Complex beginning March 8 at 10:00 A.M., or give him a call and reserve a party time. Travis D. Barney (520) 449-8546.
