What are you doing on New Year’s Eve? There will be parties given in clubs; houses and banquet halls…There will be church services and all types of gatherings. People will be celebrating all over; watching ‘the ball’ drop at Times Square. People will make New Year’s resolutions and promises; commitments and vows. All of this, and more, will take place on the night of New Year’s Eve.
However, it will all be in vain; a waste of time; and empty activities, if nothing changes. You see there are masses of people who go to church on New Year’s Eve, only to start another year with an old mindset. They will leave service and go back home to fornicate; they will still be drinking and drugging; cussing and fussing; unforgiving and bitter. And then the cycle continues. Another year of the same old stuff; even though many will be in God’s house on the night of New Year’s Eve.
If you were in an ungodly relationship in 2014; are you going to end it in 2015? If you battled addiction in 2014; are you going to end it in 2015? If you were laying around unproductive in 2014; are you going to push forward in 2015? If you were angry and bitter towards someone in 2014; are you going to forgive them in 2015? If you have been complaining and murmuring in 2014; are you going to be thankful in 2015? If you are ready for change; then why are you waiting until the night of New Year’s Eve?
While you are reading this; whether it is December 29th, 31st, or January 2nd…If you are ready to change, do it now! Today GOD has given you another chance. Tomorrow is not promised. It is time for change; commitment; and surrender. It is time to move forward in HIS plan; walk away from bondage and defeat; tear down strongholds and drop every chain that has been broken through the shed blood of JESUS. It is time.
It may not be midnight on December 31st; but it is time. It may not be January 1st of 2015; but it is time. You may not be in the sanctuary of a church right now; but it is time. You may not be at the New Year’s Eve party, but it is time. It may seem like it is a huge step for you; but it is time. It may seem a little scary to step into unfamiliar; but it is time. Change is not dependent on the night of New Year’s Eve.
Stop procrastinating; wherever you are; whatever day it is; whatever time it is…. If it lines up with GOD’S plan; Word, and will for you, then it is time. It matters what you are going to do right now, more than what you plan to do on the night of New Year’s Eve.
Whatever is pleasing in God’s sight: Do it now; do it all; do it right. “And Noah did according unto all that the Lord commanded him.” Genesis 7:5
