Priorities, that little thing in our life we use to categorize how we should spend our daily life by listing them in the order of importance. It use to be God first, then family, our job or employment next, with serving or ministry last. But, somehow, some substitutions got mixed in there, then the priority list got messed up. The results? Higher divorce rates, higher suicide rates, crime rates are higher, and that general feeling of all is right with the world has left the building. Is there someone we can blame that on? Maybe we could blame it on something? Unfortunately, there is no one thing or person to blame it on but ourselves. We are the only ones, our individual selves, that could make or break the outcome of life. We take God, knock him down a few notches and move sports into His place. We take our work and sports and move it into the spot where family is suppose to be. We are paying for the consequences. No amount of psychiatric help is going to fix the problem. Church has been all but replaced by the sports stadium. We tell the worship team that we only want three songs and a ten minute sermon so that we can go home and watch the games. Television shows, risque as they are, has taken over the Sunday night and Wednesday night church services, so those services have been done away with. Who is to blame? Church leadership, I’m afraid. The elders do not listen to the parishioners, in fact they do not even go to their home and visit with them. And the elders have grown lax about coming to the Sunday and Wednesday night services. You know that part in the Bible where Jesus calls His followers sheep? Well, it is true. If the parishioners see the elders and church leadership growing lax in the responsibility to the church, then they will follow suit. That opens up a new hole in the believer’s life, a hole that could be filled by any false doctrine that could send them to hell, literally. The church leadership would be responsible for that loss.
We are seeing large groups of young people, middle age people, and unhappy church people leaving the country to join the radical islamists. Some will feel like they have a kindred spirit, some of them are clearly mentally disturbed, feel like they found a support group. Still, others find they made a mistake and find there is no turning back, otherwise it would cost them there lives. Believers of the one true God have stood strong on the principles of God and His Word, and they are quickly becoming a minority. We are about to witness the wrath of a God that no one has seen since old testament times. It will be a sight to see. Is it fair to say it would be brutal? Maybe, but the brutality we will bring upon ourselves. We are at the threshold of a crisis of major proportion, and we are so blind that we cannot see it. Jesus says that only those who search, study, and look to the heavens will see their salvation approach. Only those who are watching and waiting, will see Jesus come as a thief in the night to take His people home. There is no room anymore to say I did not know. There is no excuse any more to try to explain away our laziness. There is nothing we could say to keep God from saying I never knew you, and banishing us into the everlasting fires of hell.
What we need to do is to bring our priorities back in line with scriptural principles, or face the fall of society as we know it. Immorality, lack of honoring God, and lawlessness, from the spiritual aspect, has always been the cornerstone of the collapse of an empire or society. If we love what we had in the past, if we cherish our freedoms, and if we Love God, then we need to change our ways. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 1Chron. 7:14 NIV The only prescription that can heal our world.
