The White House may be examining how a Malia Obama photo was “leaked” online this week, which features the teen wearing a rap group T-shirt. An official investigation into the matter has allegedly been filed by officials, and some are wondering whether the president’s daughter, Malia, may have had her privacy invaded. Fox News reports this Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, that the photo — which was apparently first posted to image media and sharing site Instagram — has not yet been proven to be genuine, however.
Many in the public are saying it has been blown out of proportion already, but a White House Malia photo is garnering serious buzz, nonetheless. Reports have recently indicated that the White House may be critically looking at information regarding how a potential image of President Obama’s child, Malia, made its way to the World Wide Web. The snapshot and seeming selfie showcases the teen wearing a shirt that has a rap group logo emblazoned on the front. The young woman may simply be sharing her support for a musical group, but the buzz certainly hasn’t ended there.
Pro Era had the image presented on their Instagram page, notes News Max in their coverage. It is unknown at this time what role Malia may have had in the unverified image, or if a privacy invasion might be possible. The White House is stated to be investigating the matter seriously, though few details have been disclosed at this time.
According to one musical group representative close to the rappers, the photo is very real. It was allegedly obtained, adds the source, from a “mutual friend close to [Malia Obama] and a fellow Pro Era member.” Little is known about the T-shirt itself, except that the article of clothing with logo included was being sold online for $40 at one point. A writer for the Verge mentioned that the photo has caused dramatic conversation online, despite its unassuming appearance.
“The Obama family’s absence from the normal people Internet makes this otherwise typical teenage photo feel both precious and disorienting,” Plante wrote. “As a civilian, I like to see any photograph that humanizes the family running the country. But I also feel guilty, like this is an invasion of a teenager’s privacy.”
In any case, the White House Malia photo is turning heads and making waves among quite a few people. Neither President Obama, daughter Malia Obama, or any White House officials have offered any formal statement on the issue or alleged investigation. Twitter users have already come out of the woodwork this week to sound off on the image phenomenon, with some saying such a thing should not be newsworthy in the first place, while others claim it is staged. Until the snapshot is verified and proven to be “leaked,” shared, or some form of sharing thereof, much of the issue remains a mystery.
“How in the hell is this news?!?! White House reportedly investigating possible photo of Malia Obama,” wrote one user on Twitter recently. “White House reportedly investigating possible photo of Malia Obama … OK Obama you cant keep track of your 16 yr old?” read another tweet. “This is obviously a false flag operation to prove that the Obamas are parents just like you and me.”
