Based upon all the media reports that have come out since the Deflategate scandal happened one thing has become more and more clear. For some reason the NFL, or someone working for the NFL, is out to get the New England Patriots.
The latest odd twist to the story, a Patriots employee named Jim McNally tried to give an unapproved kicking football to a ref during the AFC Championship game, is just one more example of the NFL gunning for the Patriots. Originally, it was reported as if McNally and the Patriots had done something wrong but then the truth came out that McNally was given the unapproved football by a NFL employee. So why is the NFL out to get the New England Patriots?
Why is the NFL out to get the New England Patriots?
Is it because NFL VP of game operations Mike Kensil was a high ranking member of the New York Jets front office when Bill Belichick wisely spurned the Jets so he could become head coach in New England? Is Mike Kensil out to get the New England Patriots because they hired Bill Belichick away from the Jets when Kensil worked for the Jets?
Who knows? What is becoming more and more increasingly clear, though, is that instead of getting the New England Patriots, the NFL is making itself look foolish beyond belief. In the latest flap, Patriots employee Jim McNally was given an unapproved football because a NFL employee was taking legitimate game footballs and selling them on the side to make money.
Media reports are that the NFL has since fired that employee. But the damage is already done as that fired employee has made the NFL look like complete incompetents. Who at the NFL thought it would be a wise move to try and smear the Patriots some more by pretending that McNally and the Pats had done something wrong when it was a NFL employee in the wrong?
Personally, I think there is one fact that really bothers a lot of the people working for the NFL. That fact is that since the Spygate scandal ended the New England Patriots have a winning percentage of 78%. During the Spygate scandal, the Patriots winning percentage was 68%.
Since the Patriots stopped taping opponents signal calling, which was what Spygate was about, the Patriots have won at just about a 15% higher rate than when they were taping. I think some people working for the NFL cannot wrap their minds around the fact that SpyGate never really helped the Patriots much, if at all.
So, in my opinion, some people working for the NFL keep looking for their own white whale with the Patriots. All they are really doing, though, is making the NFL look totally incompetent and foolish beyond belief.
