Why people want to be “willingly ignorant” of the Creation and the worldwide Flood is really mind boggling. But the Bible does say that there will be scoffers in the last days who will do this very thing (2 Peter 3:3-8). The reason why is due in part what they have learned in school. Evolution theory is taught in the public school but creation is not or anything else from the Bible.
Actually, people do not want to hear about Noah’s flood (Genesis 6-9) because it talks about a judgment that God gave against man’s sin. He drowned every living air breathing creature including man with a worldwide cataclysmic flood, except those animals and Noah’s family who were in the ark (Genesis 6:17-20),(Genesis 7:1-9).
Some scoffers believe the Flood was only of local extent, flooding only the Mesopotamian valley. If that was the case God would of not needed Noah to build the ark. He would of simply had the animals and Noah to move to higher ground. But God flooded the whole earth.”And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was on dry land, died. And every living substance was destroyed which was upon he face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth; and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark” (Genesis 7:21-23).
People rather hear that they came from apes than that God created man in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26-27). Most people do not want to be accountable to God. A lot say that there is no God (Psalm 14:1) that created but everything came about by random chance over millions upon millions of years. These same people say that they do not understand what the Bible says. They say it contradicts itself or is hard to understand. But the Bible speaks of these people and calls them the “natural man“. I Corinthians 2:14 says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned“.
The truth of the matter is the Bible has a divine Author. And this Author is God Himself. He used men to write His Words as they were instructed to do so by the Holy Spirit of God (2 Peter 1:20-21).
When you receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, the Bible (Word of God) can be taught to you by the Holy Spirit of God. “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual” (I Corinthians 2:12-13).
