WWE Fastlane Pay Per View is this Sunday, February 22nd. Who Ya Got?
- Goldust vs Stardust—
If you are new to my writings, you may have missed the fact that I just do not like anything about Cody Rhodes. He’s mediocre in the ring, his characters are mediocre, and he’s only there because of his father. Cody screams “I belong in TNA”. I’ve seen that people want this match at WrestleMania when it shouldn’t be on this card (put this as the pre show match).
My pick-Goldust by 100% bias reasons.
- The Usos vs Cesaro & Tyson Kidd—
I’m wondering why the IWC isn’t gathering around Cesaro. Cesaro is one of the best in the world in-between the ropes and it really confuses me as to why the E chooses to get behind some guys and not this guy. All four of these guys are really good, so I expect a good match here.
- Dolph Ziggler, Eric Rowan, Ryback vs Big Show, Kane, Seth Rollins—
Have we not seen this match on Raw and Smackdown 5 times? I know its a throw-away PPV, but this just feels too lazy. Rollins is incredible but what is his match at WrestleMania? Where is Randy Orton at? Does he come interfere in this match to set up a match with Rollins at the big show? Why break up the Wyatt Family if they don’t have anything good for Rowan? I’m not sure how this match will set up WrestleMania for these guys, maybe they’ll have another Battle Royal.
My pick: Rollins, Kane, Big Show
- Divas Champion Nikki Bella vs Paige—
If there is any kind of justice in the Wrestling world, then Paige will dominant this match and get the title back. I see them doing a screw finish to keep the belt on Nikki Bella and set up something else for WrestleMania. Paige hasn’t been on the main roster for long but is already my favorite Diva of all time. With all of the hours of WWE programming they put on t.v, the ladies should get more than the 4 minute matches.
My pick–Nikki Bella to set up WrestleMania
- Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett vs Dean Ambrose—
This is my pick for match of the night! Barrett and Ambrose are two of my favorites on the roster and they should be able to put on a quality match together. I really like Ambrose is more ready to get his “WrestleMania moment” in the main event, but if he doesn’t take the title at Fastlane, the IC belt is a nice second. Barrett has taken a bad gimmick and turned it into one of the more popular segments on t.v. I can’t help but think if he didn’t suffer the injury last year, that more people would be jumping on his bandwagon to win the Rumble.
My pick–Barrett retains but Ambrose wins the match.
- US Champion Rusev vs John Cena—
The slow build of Rusev and the outcome relies on this feud. Cena doing the quick bury on this guy will demolish the months and months of building. Rusev is a legit powerhouse in that ring and could be WWE champion one day if they do it right. Another match I don’t see getting a clean finish because it sets up a better WrestleMania match. I’m all for Cena staying out of the title picture to push other stars and if he continues this, then more people should respect this guy.
My pick-Rusev wins by DQ
- Sting and Triple H—
This is why I am excited for this PPV. Are we finally going to hear Sting speak? I’d love to hear what he’s got to say about Triple H trying to bury him. Sting is on a completely higher level than HHH in the wrestling world, but I understood why HHH had to be the guy to get to Sting first. Because putting himself into the big story lines is what he does. I get it, but I don’t like it at all.
- The #1 Contenders Match Roman Reigns vs Daniel Bryan—
I thought this was a bad idea because everybody is going to come away from this match seeing how great Bryan is. The WWE Universe is going to cheer so loud for a guy that will make Reigns look like a decent wrestler. Reigns couldn’t carry Bryan’s gym bag (well that’s probably the only way he can contribute). On Monday Night Raw, Reigns was giving people t-shirts to try to distract Bryan but I’m almost 100% positive that the people were only reacting to the free shirts. Reigns can go on to be the face of the company, but it shouldn’t be happening this year. I hope there is a run-in or something that happens to get Bryan in the main event at Mania, but I don’t see that happening. And we just had a “match of the year” triple threat at the Royal Rumble so I don’t think they’ll do that again (but they are lazy).
I haven’t given you much on the results because I don’t think we’ll get much. I hope I am wrong and this PPV turns out to be a good one that sets up Mania beautifully. I think this is the most negative I have been about a WWE PPV since the release of the Network, but that’s only because I want to see the very best show from the very best company. My fingers are crossed!
