An unretouched photo of Cindy Crawford showing her natural body complete with wrinkles, blotchy skin and sags has sparked debate over the rampant use of Photoshop to make models look younger and thinner.
Many fans loved the untouched photo, saying it shows Crawford, 49, looking “real” and honest. “People need to realize that our bodies change. It’s a beautiful transformation! Stop expecting flawless perfection,” one fan wrote on Twitter Feb. 15.
Another added: “Cindy Crawford’s untouched pic from @MarieClaire illustrates women of all ages are as beautiful as they are real.”
The unedited lingerie photo was a leaked image from a photo shoot Crawford did for the December 2013 issue of Marie Claire magazine. Marie Claire did not publish Cindy’s unretouched photo and has no plans to in a future issue.
In response to the Internet scuttlebutt, Crawford’s husband, Rande Gerber, posted a very flattering Instagram photo of Cindy lying poolside in a bikini (above right). “She got flowers and I got her. Happy Valentines Day @cindycrawford,” Gerber cooed.
Crawford, who’s writing a fitness book, previously revealed that she wants to “come to terms” with her body by age 50. “I’m a normal woman,” Cindy told Net-a-Porter. “Sometimes I feel pretty good and some days I’m like, ‘Oh my God, nothing fits.’ By the time I am 50, I want to have come to terms with my body.”
Fitness Secrets Are Low-Carb Diet, Pilates and Yoga
Crawford maintains her fit bikini body by following a low-carb diet and working out three to four times a week, Celebrity Health & Fitness reported. Cindy, a mom of two, said she eats well to be healthy, not just to be skinny.
Crawford said her workouts typically include cardio exercise such as running, spinning, stair-climbing, and hiking. She also does Pilates, yoga, lifts weights, and circuit-trains. Cindy admits she’s terrified of turning 50, but has learned to embrace aging.
“Beauty changes as I get older,” said Crawford. “I’ve always found that beauty and confidence are synonymous. If you feel confident, that’s what people see. I always tell people to fake it until they make it.”
Cindy, who admits to having undergone a few cosmetic procedures (including Botox), said consistent exercise, a healthy diet and a positive attitude are critical for successful aging and authentic happiness.
“My goal in life is not to be happy all the time,” said Crawford. “That’s asking a lot. I just want to be present so I can experience whatever emotion is there. Sometimes it’s joy, sometimes it’s not joy, and I’m fine with that. I just want to be real.”
