Yolanda Foster, star of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” posted a heartbreaking photo of herself being carried by her 15-year-old son, Anwar Hadid. Foster, who’s battling Lyme disease, has progressively gotten weaker and sicker since being diagnosed with the debilitating bacterial infection in 2012.
“Thank you for sharing your compassioned heart and carrying me through these darkest days of my life @AnwarHadid,” Yolanda wrote on Instagram April 26.
Foster is currently in Germany seeking alternative treatments for her Lyme disease. In January, Yolanda revealed she no longer has the ability to read, write or watch TV as a result of her Lyme disease.
Foster was hospitalized in Singapore on Jan. 19 and posted an Instagram photo from her hospital bed. “I have lost the ability to read, write, or even watch TV, because I can’t process information or any stimulation for that matter,” Yolanda wrote. “It feels like someone came in and confiscated my brain and tied my hands behind my back to just watch and see life go by without me participating in it.”
Foster is a Dutch former model who’s married to Grammy-winning songwriter David Foster and is the mother of budding supermodel Gigi Hadid. Yolanda said she relapsed in December 2014 and has only recovered 60 percent of her health.
“I have been battling Lyme disease for the past three years,” Yolanda blogged. “I wasted the first year trying to get diagnosed and spent the next two trying to find a cure.
Foster, 51, added: “I have gone from the conventional long-term antibiotics to about every holistic protocol there is to offer. Unfortunately, I was only able to get to about a 60% recovery until I relapsed in early December and have not been able to find my way back.”
Foster Was Bedridden for 18 Months
Yolanda’s Lyme disease has been an ongoing story line on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” for the past three seasons. Foster is frustrated there is still no vaccine, cure or proper diagnostic testing for the disease.
Lyme disease is a tick-borne bacterial infection whose symptoms include neurological problems, joint pain, flu-like symptoms and chronic fatigue.
Foster revealed on previous episodes of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” that she was bedridden for 18 months after being diagnosed with the bacterial infection.
Yolanda, a mom of three, has traveled to various countries in Asia and Europe to seek treatment for Lyme disease because many of the drugs and therapies for the illness are blocked by the Food and Drug Administration in the United States.
Foster said she plans to fight tirelessly to find a cure for Lyme disease so others don’t have to suffer as she has. “I will make it my life mission to figure this out, because nobody deserves to suffer this way in 2015,” said Yolanda, who is encouraging everyone to participate in the Lyme Disease Challenge to raise awareness and funding for the disease.
“As tired and hopeless as I feel at times, I have an undeniable spirit that will continue to fight and travel the world until I have the proper answers,” said Foster.
