This week, Yolanda Ostoloza has been convicted of pimping out her teen daughter. A 15-year-old girl from Florida was reportedly being offered sexually to a man by her own mother in the middle of Super Bowl week so the latter could make some quick cash. Ostoloza has been formally charged this week, Metro News reports this Thursday, November 20, 2014.
In a case that has understandably disturbed the nation, the “Yolanda Ostoloza convicted pimping” story is finally coming to a close this month. The woman was charged in a U.S. court of law and found guilty on separate counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and promoting prostitution. Ostoloza was discovered earlier this year trying to pimp her 15-year-old daughter out, willing to “gamble” the teen girl sexually amid Super Bowl week for money.
Now, the 39-year-old convicted mom has lost custody of her daughter in the interim. She could be sentenced to a possible 15 years behind bars when her sentencing hearing takes place this December 9, 2014. The court case was a heated one, and state ADA Rachel Ehrhardt had some powerful statements to make in her closing argument. The lawyer said that this 15-year-old girl lost her teen years as a result of her mother’s actions; she learned the world of pimping instead of being able to mature into a young woman.
“Think about what a barely 15-year-old girl is supposed to be doing. Planning for her sweet 16, preparing to get her driver’s permit. Doing her homework during her sophomore year of high school … Maybe even thinking about a high school sweetheart.”
The New York Daily News goes on to say that Yolanda Ostoloza’s child, unfortunately, was unable to be thinking about these things that a normal teen girl would consider. Instead, in her abused circumstances, she was forced by her now convicted mother to be exploited sexually.
“But for (Ostoloza’s daughter), her mother had another plan for her. . . sexually exploit her child for money,” the prosecutor concluded. Her words were apparently enough to sway the listeners present.
As part of the suspect’s defense in the “Yolanda Ostoloza convicted pimping” case, her lawyer — Lawrence LaBrew — is arguing that the actual pimp (identified as Damon Hayes) accused of inappropriate conduct with the 15-year-old is at fault. Consequently, it should not be the mom being charged or facing jail time. LaBrew asserts that Ostoloza’s overall plan was to in fact send her teen girl to safety with her father at the time, not endanger the minor. Following the guilty verdict being declared this week, LaBrew intends to appeal the court’s decision.
